Biography : 

Sarina Simmons is a doctoral student in the University of Toronto’s Department for the Study of Religion and holds an MSc in the Anthropology of Religion from the London School of Economics. Her dissertation research examines Mennonite missionaries in Treaty 3 territory, in what is now known as northwestern Ontario. Her work is interdisciplinary and ethnohistorical, incorporating approaches from history, anthropology, and Indigenous studies. Sarina’s project more broadly investigates (de)colonialism, land and borderlands, treaty, Anishinaabeg-settler relations, and Anabaptist identity, with a focus on the Great Lakes region.
