Auditing Undergraduate Courses

The Department for the Study of Religion allows students to audit courses under certain conditions:

  • Auditors must have the permission of the instructor.
  • The classroom size can accommodate auditing students.

Audit requests can only be considered when we have a clearer picture of course enrolment, which is the last day to enrol in F courses, and the last day to enrol in W courses. Please check out Timetable Builder to see if the course is being offered.

Please contact religion.undergrad@utoronto.ca if you have questions and include the course code in your subject line.

    Auditing Policies

    • Auditing is subject to available space in the classroom and the course instructor's approval.
    • Auditing a course entitles you to attend lectures only.
    • Auditors are not evaluated, do not submit assignments, and do not write tests and examinations.
    • The Department for the Study of Religion does not issue a Certificate of Attendance and therefore does not keep a record of attendance.
    • For further information, see the University of Toronto’s policy on auditing courses.

    Auditing Fees

    • Students registered in the University, senior citizens, and employees of the University will not be charged an audit fee. All other auditors will be charged 40% of the tuition fee per course. To audit a course please email religion.undergrad@utoronto.ca
