Global Christianities

The study of Christianity in modernity highlights the multiplicity of Christian practices and politics across the globe, with particular attention to how these Christianities reimagine tradition and build networks of influence and relation. Scholars and students working in the field draw on a variety of scholarly methods, including ethnography, historical-archival research, visual and material culture studies, media studies, critical legal studies, gender studies, and Indigenous studies. Current faculty expertise includes global Evangelicalism and Pentecostalism, especially in West Africa, Latin America, and Northern Europe; Christianity and colonialism in North America and Turtle Island; South Asian Christianities; and Christianity and the environment.
