Religion Café: Article Workshop with Isaiah Ellis

When and Where

Description

Discussion of a short piece by DSR postdoctoral fellow Isaiah Ellis.

In this short reflection, titled "Toward an infrastructural religious studies," Isaiah offers some broad thoughts that reflect on his work's relationship to the field at large, and on what it means to work in a discipline that is often most generative when it sets its sights on its boundaries rather than its (invisible/non-existent) core. Some of these reflections emanate from his book manuscript in progress, which is titled Apostles of Asphalt: The Racial and Religious Politics of Infrastructure in the American South. Others originate in the underbelly of his thinking and writing process, which he shares in hopes of bringing some of our field’s submerged dynamics to the surface.

RSVP to chiho,tokita@mail.utoronto.ca or ridhima.sharma@mail.utoronto.ca to receive Isaiah's article in advance of the meeting.
