Larry P. Alford, University Chief Librarian, University of Toronto Libraries, Loryl MacDonald, Director, Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, and Professor Srilata Raman, Department of Religion and the Centre for South Asian Studies, University of Toronto, cordially invite you to attend this colliquium to learn about Tamil and European rare books, manuscripts, dictionaries, plays, poems, religious tracts, travel stories, and more. 

This event will feature presentations on book history, cataloging, and digitization based on the remarkable collection in Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu, French, English and other languages donated to the University of Toronto Libraries by François Gros (1933–2021), a renowned scholar and Director of the École Française d’Éxtreme Orient in Pondicherry, India.
