Biography

Allison is a PhD candidate in the Department for the Study of Religion and in collaboration with the Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies. She holds an MA in Philosophy of Religion and a BA Honours in Ethics, Society, & Law, both from the University of Toronto. Her work is in philosophy of religion and focuses on the intersection of religion and morality, taking a reconstructive approach to Kantian ethics. Her dissertation explores how a Kantian, universalist morality might be made compatible with the values of cultural pluralism while avoiding both the kind of moral relativism and the moral absolutism that threaten to undermine meaningful discussion about moral issues in an increasingly globalized context.
