Biography

River is a doctoral student at the Department for the Study of Religion. He is particularly interested in tracking the movement of Christianity through the Horn of Africa during the late antique and early medieval periods. His research focuses both on original Gǝ'ǝz compositions, and on the Ethiopian reception of earlier Judeo-Christian texts. River is committed to incorporating interdisciplinary methodologies into his work, in order to better account for the complexities of life for those of ancient Ethiopia's diverse communities.
