Biography

Nicholas Sarian is a doctoral student in the Department for the Study of Religion. He has a BA in Art History from the University of Palermo, and holds an MA in Philosophy from King’s College London and an MA in Religion from Columbia University. He was formerly an Assistant Curator at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art (Moscow, Russia), and has worked in the past for a variety of artists and galleries. The focus of his research and dissertation (“Towards an Economic Theology of Luxury: Sacrifice at the Margins of the Economy") is the secularization of ancient sacrificial expenditure in the modern luxury complex.
