It is with great sadness that we share that PhD candidate Mirela Stosic passed away on August 17, after a battle with cancer.
Mirela was in her 5th year of studies, working on a dissertation on “Guru Bhakti in Srivaishnavism: The Caramopayanirnaya,” with Srilata Raman as her supervisor and committee members Elisa Freschi and Christoph Emmrich.
Mirela’s husband, Kevin Reid, has asked that we share the details of Mirela’s memorial with the DSR community. It will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 11:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Croatia, 7 Croatia Street Toronto, ON M6H 1K8.
A reception will be held following the Memorial Service at the Old Mill Toronto in the Victoria Room, at 21 Old Mill Road.
A number of DSR members will attend the memorial and we invite others to join us. We will also take time to remember Mirela in the DSR in the near future.

Mirela's kind smile and gentle nature will be sorely missed. We would like to remember her with a plaque or perhaps even a tree on campus. If you would like to contribute to this memorial, you can donate to the "Department for the Study of Religion Trust" – add a note on the second page of the payment (2. Gift Options), that this is in memory of Mirela. We will be collecting funds until end of October 2023 and will update all donors on the final memorial.
