Biography

Anna is a PhD candidate at the Department for the Study of Religion. She is currently finishing her dissertation, “Lessons, Placeholders, and Emasculators: The Literary Function of Women in Ancient Christian Texts,” which reexamines the function of women in early Christian literature. The dissertation argues that the role of women in certain texts is less remarkable than once thought and that the preoccupation with searching for “women-friendly” elements in texts has overlooked the main literary function of these female characters.
