 ersity of Toronto \n\nDescription: \nIn this presentation, Kevin White wi
 ll talk about his years as a graduate student in the American Studies Prog
 ram at the University of Buffalo. He will reflect on his time learning abo
 ut what it meant to be an Indigenous community-centered scholar- activist 
 and his engagement with the White Corn project. He will share his insights
  on the UB American Studies program as a space of research, food, and a 
 venue of learning unlike anywhere else…Professor Kevin J. WhiteKevin J. Wh
 ite is a Mohawk from Akwesasne, with family from the Tonawanda Band of Se
 neca. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department for the Study of Reli
 gion and Centre for Indigenous Studies at the University of Toronto. He wa
 s a Fulbright Fellow at Brock University, where he worked with Rick Hill 
 and the Indigenous Knowledge Centre at Six Nations Polytechnic in 2017. Pr
 eviously, he was faculty and the Director of the Native American Studies 
 and American Studies Programs at SUNY Oswego. His research focuses on the 
 Haudenosaunee Creation narratives and on storytelling as a way of better u
 nderstanding the cultural knowledge and history of those who have long cal
