John Magee

John Magee studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Toronto, and he has taught at Columbia University (1986-92) and at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies and University of Toronto (since 1992). He is a member of the Classics Department, the Collaborative Program in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, and the Centre for Medieval Studies, of which he is currently the Director, and he is a Senior Fellow of the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies. His general research interests are in late ancient philosophy and philosophical commentators, and in textual criticism. He has published extensively on Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius in particular and is currently working on a critical edition of his Περὶ Ἑρμηνείας commentaries and an English translation of Calcidius.
